Tyre Fitting in Cardiff
It is a legal requirement for your vehicle to be fitted with the correct type and size of tyre. There are also laws in place to govern all aspects of your tyres condition; most important of these is the minimum tread depth. The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread and around it's complete circumference.
Tyres are the only parts of your car which are in contact with the road. Safety in acceleration, braking, steering and cornering all depend on a relatively small area of road contact. It is therefore of paramount importance that your car tyres are maintained in good condition at all times and when the time comes to change them, the correct tyres are fitted. As such it is advisable to regularly check all tyres for pressures and general condition not forgetting the spare every two weeks.
Please see the tyre safety advise given by RoSPA Here it is clearly shown that your braking distance is significantly increased when driving on tyres with less than 3.0 mm of tread.
All Ferris Bros Service Reports include a tyre depth chart to help you monitor tyre wear & maintain a safe car
We also only supply new tyres & include new valves & wheel balencing with each new tyre.
Laser Wheel Alignment - Otherwise known as 'Tracking'
In Spring 2005 we installed a new state-of-the-art laser four wheel aligner from 'Supertracker' to ensure all steering resets are A1 accurate. This piece of kit is in daily use in our workshops & regularly calibrated to ensure accuracy as it's aim is to ensure your vehicle steering is correct. Wheel alignment or 'Tracking' as it is more commonly known is the accurate set up of steering angles to ensure optimum tyre wear.
'Word to the wise' - Please do not mount curbs when parking as this can easily throw out wheel alignment and hence result in rapidly worn tyres!!
